Dr. Lo

Dr. Manuel S. Lo
1936-2008

… The noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.
Isaiah 32:8

What is the true measure of a man? Most would say that one would know how great a man is by the mark he leaves upon this world.

Dr. Lo is a noble man who puts his heart and soul into everything he did. Unknown to many - he has unselfishly served the school as Board Member and as Chairman ever since its conception in 1976 until he breathed his last breath and be with the Lord early morning of Saturday, June 28, 2008.

He is a strong advocate of education. He has been part of every school’s project no matter how small or big it is. To the TCS faculty and Staff, he is one silent man whose action speaks louder than words.

One notable story shared by Teacher Gas was when he came to school to attend the Opening Worship Service last year, 2007 being the Chairman then of the School Board of Trustees. While passing through the corridor he saw a bunch of fallen leaves carried by the wind scattering along the way. Somehow distracted by the sight, he asked for a school maintenance to sweep the litter. However the janitors were busy adding more chairs to the auditorium. Without fuss, he decided to do the task himself of picking the fallen leaves, fully garbed in his barong Tagalog.

Known to be hands-on and meticulous, he personally supervised the final stages of completion of the Home Economics Building. He brought a seamstress to measure the needed curtains for the windows of the said building. He personally picked the colors of the floor tiles.

In one instance, he even acted as chauffer to some of the teachers by personally driving them to school after they attended one luncheon.

As Haw Tiu said, every building in the campus has his personal touch on it. He is also a strong financial supporter of the new school building.

He was there to give out the plaque of appreciation to Faculty Service Awardees during the 30th anniversary of the school. It is his second nature to give without expecting anything in return.

And with his passing, he has left a great void in our lives, because he has made such an enormous impact on them. But despite this void, he lives in our hearts and memories, vibrant and full of life.

You will surely be missed but never to be forgotten.

To God be the glory for your exemplary example…

Fund Raising Grand Price

The Toyota Vios at stake as the grand price of the Raffle Draw

The students have been wishing for it, the school administrators have been planning for it and it will be a-dream-come true soon!

Responding to the need for a covered court, the TCS Alumni Association launched its first fund Raising Drive for the school year in the form of a Raffle Draw. Mark Gomez, the incumbent association president, told the crowd of parents and students during the general assembly that it’s high time for the school to have a covered court so that sports activities and practices could not be hampered during rainy season.

In his speech, he emphasized that the school is growing in number, thus the demand to have a well equipped campus to facilitate the needs of the students also grow. He reiterated that more and more students are becoming sports enthusiasts and the existing auditorium could not accommodate all practices during the rainy season. He said that a covered court can alleviate the problem and it can also be a venue to host inter-school events.

The association targets to raise 4 million pesos for the construction of the said edifice.

“We are asking for the benevolent support of the Trinitarian community to buy the tickets priced at P200 each. It may seem a big amount, but think about how your contribution can pave the way for the fruition of this dream” Mark reiterated.

For the grand prize, a Toyota Vios is at stake; 2nd prize – is a Sony Digital Camera; and there will be 5 iPODS to be given away for the 3rd prize. The Raffle Draw is set on October 29, 2008 during the celebration of the school’s 33rd year

In this world, there are different people.
Different people have different habits,
Different habits determine different goals.
Differences make a difference.

The Supreme Trinitarian Council is an organization composed by duly elected student officers. It aims to serve the student body and the school by spearheading students’ activities during special events in school such as Teachers Day, Foundation Week and Buwan ng Lahi, to mention some.

Every year, the positions for office of the STC are open to those who are qualified to join. The requirements would be: a student must have been enrolled in the school for at least two years and he/she should have no grades lower than 80 in the previous school year. His/Her Habits and Behavior rating should not be less than 85.

The goals of the STC for each school year depend on the plans of the people who are manning the organization. Nevertheless, to become an officer requires commitment and dedication.

Orex John Ong, Olsen John Ong, Timothy James Tan- all elementary students and Ma. Joenelle Grace Plotena, Ostin John Ong and Ralph Kevin Genoguin- from the high school joined in the 2008 Rio Tinto Big Science Competitions held in TCS last June 28, 2008. Though private and public schools of Bacolod City were given the invitation to join the said competition, these Trinitarians were the only participants from the city who dared and took the challenge.

This yearly contest is a 75 minutes-30 multiple choice questions format suitable for students of all abilities. Questions are being designed to test the student’s real ability to think on scientific basis and understanding of scientific principles.

The Rio Tinto Big Science competition has been created by Australian Teachers and Academics to provide a test of real scientific thinking for students.

Held for the first time in 2004 as the Australian Science Challenge, this Science Competition showcases science as an important subject in the curriculum and gives students an opportunity to discover a talent in this area without the pressure of it affecting normal school assessment. It is the “scientific sibling” of the Australian mathematics Competition.
